WE KICKED OFF OUR SEASON IN THE RAIN:
On this trip we started in the south bay near the Alameda Rockwall and the current was pushing us into the rock wall knowing we had an ebb tide until 2:50pm with a combination of a south east winds it made it for very fast drifting which in fact helped us cover alot more ground, with the wind pushing us at the stern, it was a chilling cold breeze but made for a more comfortable fishing experience. We manage to find fish but they were all small with one barely legal, this mean we had to wait until the water warms up and the weather improves before the Larger Halibut come in spawn in the shallows.
We managed to find early keeper stripers moving either out of the Delta Systems and into the main bay until the summer but we caught more keeper striper bass than Keeper halibut, as a fact all our caught stripers were keepers.
As the day went on it was sporadic down pours at every location, we were hit hard at every spot we thought we were safe and we moved around alot to get out of the rain but decided it was not possible so we fished in the elements. The conditions made for a very unfavorable day but we managed to hang tough with a few charters who we saw were struggling to find fish as well.
The Bait Balls have not yet arrived and almost all day it was very spotty balls which is why the fishing was slow, other than grinding out the day, we had fun and we caught fish
..... SEE YOU ON THE WATER!
